'The Search' is a sub-series by Daniel M.E. Schaal belonging to a larger body of work titled 'The Memory of Things'. For this project Schaal used an old personal scarf as a printing matrix. He explores how objects hold emotional and atmospheric memories that remain fluid and unstable. In this space of poetic black and blue colours there are glimpses of light, where the vertical and horizontal lines of the compositions meet, and by forming intersections, bring forward the white of the paper in those areas.

FRIDAY BIRD Classic Collection

In the FRIDAY BIRD Classic Collection, we present works by established and emerging artists that we have selected from galleries, publishers or other art institutions. It is important to us that they fit in with our aesthetic of timeless, beautiful art, in which we see a poetic quality. We carefully check the provenance of each individual work to ensure its authenticity.

About the Frame

Dark brown alder features a subtle reddish undertone that brings warmth and refinement to any artwork. Its rich, deep hue makes it an elegant and natural alternative to a classic black frame.

We collaborate with a trusted manufacturer who crafts our frames using real wood veneer. This approach preserves the authentic character and texture of the wood while ensuring sustainable use of high-quality materials. Each frame is designed as a distance frame, keeping the glass slightly away from the artwork for both aesthetic and conservation reasons. We use museum glass for superior protection and clarity, maintaining the artwork’s true colors and fine details. For aesthetic reasons, our artworks are typically framed without a mat, creating a clean, contemporary presentation. With a slim 13 mm profile, the frame enhances the artwork’s presence without overpowering it.
