Born from sketches Cathrin Hoffmann made during a ballet company’s rehearsals, this striking work on paper captures the human body in a state of constant transition. The bright orange figures emerge against the dark ground as if out of nowhere.

About the Frame

Finished with a matte varnish, the oak-black wood moulding offers a natural alternative to a black aluminum frame. Its smooth, even surface combines subtle elegance with a pleasant tactile feel.

We collaborate with a trusted manufacturer who crafts our frames using real wood veneer. This ensures the natural beauty of solid wood while maintaining responsible use of materials. Each frame is designed as a distance frame, keeping the glass slightly away from the artwork for both aesthetic and conservation purposes. We use museum glass for superior protection and clarity. For aesthetic reasons, our artworks are typically framed without a mat. With a slim 13 mm profile, the frame enhances the artwork’s presence without drawing attention away from it.

About Cathrin Hoffmann

Cathrin Hoffmann is a German-Iranian artist based in Berlin whose work explores the conditions of human existence in the post-digital age. Through abstract, often distorted figures, she reflects on themes such as alienation, technological acceleration, and the fragile future of humanity. By combining digital aesthetics with tactile materials, her practice creates a striking tension between virtuality and physical presence.

About Unique Works

Unique works on paper include original drawings and paintings created in media such as ink, watercolor, acrylic, or oil. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and reflects the artist’s direct engagement with the paper’s surface, texture, and material qualities.
